![]() ![]() MURA Council is a group of members who contribute to keeping MURA running and to support their fellow retirees. Watch for it in an upcoming issue of University Affairs Magazine. MURA was asked to submit an article due to our close connections with the university, particularly with respect to research on aging. CURAC was recently allotted space to publish a column in each issue of University Affairs, a bi-monthly magazine published by Universities Canada. CURAC’s purpose is to provide communication, share information, provide mutual assistance, and speak out publicly on behalf of retirees of universities and colleges. MURA belongs to the College and University Retiree Associations of Canada (CURAC). Watch for notices of these events in this and upcoming MURAnews issues. Our Annual General Meeting will remain virtual (see page 3), as that provides for as many members as possible to attend. ![]() We are planning some events to make up for the past three years, including a spring social, a meet and greet for recent retirees, and a return to our popular December holiday lunch. We do hope that 2023 will allow us to return to meeting together in person. Many people were still very reluctant to gather in large groups, so our other 2022 events remained virtual. That event was suggested by a member, so if you have a good idea for a trip, event, or speaker, please do send it to us. ![]() In 2022 we had one in-person event, the very well received late-October visit to the McMaster planetarium. At the start of the new year we look to new beginnings for ourselves as individuals and for MURA as an organization. I hope that everyone had a joyous and happy holiday season. ![]()
